God Is Inviting You to the Secret Place

“He shall call on Me, and I will answer Him; I will be with Him in trouble; I will deliver Him, and honor Him.

With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” (Psalm 91:15-16 MKJV).

Introduction

God has invited you to come to the secret place to spend time with Him. Time spent with Him in prayer or fellowship is worth it. Prayer releases transforming power. This lesson is mainly directed to you as an individual believer. “But you, when you pray, enter into your room. And shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.” (Matthew 6:6).

In this lesson, we shall look at the requirements for entering the secret place with the Lord:

1. Have the right motive

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.” (Matthew 6:5).

When you approach the presence of the Lord, ensure that your motives are good. Jesus said the hypocrites love to pray. But their purpose is to be seen and heard by people. That is why they used to stand in strategic places. The Lord said by so doing, they received their reward.

You are, therefore, encouraged to go to enter your room and close the door. God, your Father hears and sees in secret, and He then rewards openly. So, ensure that the motive for prayer is right. God rewards those who pray with pure motives.

May God grant the desires of your heart as you pray in the secret plan, in Jesus Name!

2. Have a right relationship with God as your Father

“For what father of you, if the son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake for a fish? Or if he shall ask for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Luke 11:11-13).

You serve a great loving God who is a Father to us. Go to Him as a child goes to a loving father. The principle here is that a father gives good gifts to his children when they ask. God wants you to be happy. So, if you ask something from Him, he will grant your request. He is better than the earthly fathers who also give good gifts to their children.

God, your Father wants to give good things to you. Allow Him, therefore, to be a father to you. Humble yourself and approach Him as a child approaches his father. God gives only good gifts. If some thing bad happens to you, never say God has given it to you. He gives only good gifts. He is a loving Father. If you had a bad experience with your earthly father, never likens your father to God.

May you experience the deep love of God as your Father in Jesus Christ Name!

3. Fully trust in the Lord

“I, even I, will call to God, and Jehovah will save me. Evening and morning, and at noon, I will pray and cry aloud; and He shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:16-17).

Child of God, develop a real trust in God. The Psamist declares his trust in the Lord. He says he is going to call to God and he knows God will save him. It is a wonderful experience to just know within you that when you call upon the Lord, He shall hear and He shall save you.

Develop that trust Child of God. The Lord wants to hear from you. The Psamist says he shall call upon the Lord three times a day. How many times do you fellowship with the Lord? Do you enjoy talking to Him? Make it a habit to fellowship with Him. Spend time with God in the secret place.

I do not know what is troubling you today. The Psamist says he will pry and cry aloud and he knows the Lord is going to hear him. The Master will always hear your cries child of God.

May all your tears be wiped out from your eyes right now, in Jesus Name!

4. Dispense false fronts

“But He answered and said to them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. However, they worship Me in vain, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Mark 7:6-7).

Here we learn from the Gospel of Mark that God wants you to be true to Him. That is what He expects as you meet with Him in the secret place. Honour God with your heart not just lips. Deal with false pretences.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart. He cares deeply about you. He is a God of your heart.

May the Lord grant you the strength to be always true before Him, in Jesus Name!

Conclusion

God has called you to fellowship in the secret place. He has called you to prayer. After all, that is the reason He created you. For things to go right as you meet with the Lord; ensure you have the right motives, have a father-son/daughter relationship, trust God, and dispense false fronts.

That way, you shall have a great experience with God, your Father and the Creator of the universe.
