After, over four decades, of working on several, political campaigns, one of the most – concerning, aspects, I have observed, in those, supposedly, elected to serve and represent, is, too often, they fail to take timely actions, using a variety of excuses, and explanations, and resorting to procrastination, which is often, referred to, as, kicking it, down – the – road! Have you ever wondered why, so many public officials/ leaders, don’t, or won’t, ACT on even – obvious priorities? Today, perhaps more, than, ever, before, in recent memory, we need officials, who are ready, willing, and able to do so, and possess the quality of character, required, to make a true difference, for the better, in a relevant, sustainable manner! With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it should be concerning, to all of us.
1. Attitude; attention; aptitude; air/ atmosphere; actions; articulate: Only, when one, consistently, proceeds – forward, with a positive, can – do, attitude, but without wearing, rose – colored glasses, will he pay sufficient attention, to the priorities, needs, and perceptions, which, truly, matter! Too often, voters elect candidates, who aren’t ready – for – prime – time, and, merely, use empty promises, and rhetoric, instead of committing to, and having the necessary discipline, to develop a needed, relevant, aptitude, and skill – set! If, we can’t get them, to do so, even, in common sense, situations, such as protecting our atmosphere, including clean air and water, how can we expect to receive the quality, we need? Understand the difference between, how one articulates an inspiring, motivating, message, and. whether, it is based on true needs, and priorities, or his own, personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self – interest!
2. Character; clarity; cooperation; climate change; choices: A concerning example, is, how the prospect and reality of climate change, is handles! While, we need action, sooner, rather than later, too many, either ignore, or find, doing, so, inconvenient to their personal/ political agendas! Seek leaders with the quality of character, to seek cooperation, and a timely, meeting – of – the – minds, for the greater good, and whose process, creates choices, which focus on the best path – forward!
3. Timely; time – tested; truthful; together: Public leaders, only, earn your trust, when they are truthful, and trustworthy, consistently! Seek people, ready, willing and able to proceed, in a well – considered, timely way, while taking advantage of quality, time – tested, learning, knowledge, and understanding! We must demand, these individuals, prioritize, bringing us, all, together, rather than serving, only, the desires of the core supporters!
If, we hope to have any necessary action, taken, on priorities, we must demand public leaders, proactively, ACT, especially, on true priorities! Will you become a more – responsible, voter?
